Online Homework Hints

1) Your "NetID" is your Social Security Number including the dashes. By default, your password is your last name all in caps.(You may change your password later, if you like.)

For example: “111-22-3333” and “SMITH”.

2) If you access the homework from the class web page, once you log in, you will be popped back to the class page. You will have to click on the homework link a second time to access the homework.

3) The questions in the homework are different for each student. For the reading homework, the questions asked may be different. In the post-chapter homework, the question asked may be the same, but the numbers within the problem will be different.

4)  Every problem has some hint or help built into it.  Problems marked with the blue dots on the homework web page have extensive help/hint capabilites built in.

5) You may print out your problems and think about them offline. Each time you log in, your questions will be the same.

6) You may submit your answers to the reading homework problems as many times as you like before the deadline. The reading homework will be graded once, though, and grades posted after the deadline.

7) You may submit your answers to the post-chapter homework and request a grade as many times as you like with no penalty. If you submit a wrong answer, you can ask for help from the program and submit your answer again.

8) Sometimes the program can be a little picky about precision. If you are working through a problem with several steps, do not round off your answer until the very end. For example, the program might not mark it wrong if you submit 8.5 and the correct answer was 8.54.

9) You may submit your answer in the form of a formula if you like. You don't have to submit a final numerical answer. The formulas are submitted in a fashion similar to a TI graphical calculator. See the help section at the bottom of the homework page for hints.
